Risk Assessment
Mouawad Consulting is mainly a service provider; the success of our business hinges on our principal asset: a highly skilled and educated workforce. The nature of the services we provide and the policies and procedures we already operate mean that we consider ourselves to be at ‘low risk’ risk of slavery, unlawful child labour or human trafficking existing within our own business.
In relation to our services providing skilled labour to work onboard vessels, we use the services of unskilled labour in addition to trained personnel, predominantly from India. The use of unskilled labour poses a “medium risk” risk of slavery, unlawful child labour or human trafficking. We therefore source personnel from reputable suppliers, and ensure that all personnel have seaman books, have passports showing their age is above 18 years old, and demand proof of payment from our suppliers to the skilled and unskilled labour we hire.
We also request our suppliers to provide us with an Anti-Force Labour Statement, in-line with the UK Modern Slavery Act 2015. We also request our supervisors present onboard, as well as the Master of the vessel we are operating onboard, to inquire, observe and report to us of any suspicion of slavery, unlawful child labour or human trafficking.

Transparency and Responsibility in Labour Sourcing
We recognize that employing unskilled labour, primarily from India, carries a medium risk of forced labour, child labour, or human trafficking. To mitigate this, we follow strict verification processes and are guided by the UK’s Transparency in Supply Chains – A Practical Guide 2017. In relation to our supply chains, we continue to make little use of services demanding unskilled labour and those products and services we do consume are sourced from reputable suppliers.
We will continue to remain vigilant to ensure that this remains the case and that our Supplier Code of Conduct, that sets out the high standard of ethics that we require from our vendors and contractors worldwide, ensures our suppliers are complying with the legislation where required.
We are continuing to review our vendor contracts and sourcing processes periodically to ensure that our zero tolerance policy towards slavery, unlawful child labour and human trafficking is upheld.
